da bet esporte: According to reports in The Times, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy believes that Real Madrid target Harry Kane is worth more than the £200m Paris Saint-Germain paid to sign Neymar from Barcelona during the summer.
What’s the word, then?
da realbet: Well, The Times says that the England striker could be one of the La Liga giants’ top transfer targets next summer after boss Zinedine Zidane described him as “a complete player” prior to the two sides’ clash in the Champions League at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night.
The Times says that Tottenham aren’t willing to listen to any offers for their top stars, but the fact that they have sold the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Kyle Walker in the past perhaps shows that they would be ready to do business at the right price.
The report adds that Levy has told intermediaries that he values Kane more highly than Neymar though, and he will not discuss a potential transfer until Spurs have spent at least one season in their new home – the end of the 2018/19 campaign – although the 24-year-old won’t agitate for a transfer.
Would Real be willing to offer more than £200m?
A year ago you would have laughed it off but after some of the astronomical fees we saw during the previous summer window, you don’t seem to be able to rule anything out right now.
With Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo getting no younger and Bale often struggling with injury, the La Liga giants may want to add to their attacking options next summer.
With someone like Kylian Mbappe going to PSG during the summer, there aren’t lots of options available for Real and it could mean they are willing to bid big for Kane.
What would Tottenham do if they did bid big?
It’s difficult to say.
While Spurs have sold their stars in the past you feel that they are in a different situation now they are Premier League title contenders and regulars in the Champions League, and if they are to have any chance of success and keep Mauricio Pochettino at the helm then they must keep players like Kane.
Whatever happens, it seems unlikely a transfer will happen next summer ahead of the north London outfit’s move into their new stadium, so supporters shouldn’t have to worry just yet.
