da betano casino: Jack Colback has endured a tough season but it has just got worse as injury has ruled out the possibility of him leaving the club on loan in January.
What’s the latest?
da wazamba: The midfielder hasn’t been part of Steve Bruce’s plans this campaign and is yet to feature for the team in 2019/20, which meant that a loan departure was likely this month.
Nottingham Forest, where the 30-year-old has spent the last two years, was rumoured to be a possible destination, but Colback has suffered a knee injury in training which looks set to keep him out of action for four months.
It is a disappointing development for player and club alike as his £50k per week wages will have to be paid until the expiry of his contract at the end of the season when Newcastle were perhaps hoping to free up funds to spend elsewhere.
Frustrating setback
The former Sunderland player arrived at St. James’ Park on a free back in 2014, yet he has never really made his mark and has subsequently been loaned out on two occasions.
He wasn’t part of Rafael Benitez’s plans once he got the club promoted and it seems that he will have no future at the club given he has been overlooked for the past few years.
Who the heck is that?! Can you name all 25 of these obscure Liverpool signings…
Bruce praised him for his professionalism a few weeks ago but stated that it was best for him to move on along with Henri Saivet and Ki Sung-yueng, so there could still be multiple outgoings this window.
That is what is needed if the Magpies are to freshen up an injury-ravaged squad which was already short of depth, particularly midfield as youngster Matty Longstaff has been drafted into the team on occasion.
A move to Forest for Colback could possibly have allowed Newcastle to bring in a loan player of their own and now Bruce may have to rely on the generosity of Mike Ashley to secure his side’s place in the Premier League – as they currently sit just five points above the relegation zone.
