Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has stated that his side’s experience is the main reason for the club’s lead in the Premier League standings.
A 2-0 win over QPR on Sunday has given the Red Devils an eight-point advantage over Manchester City, and the veteran centre half believes that the current champions’ track record of success has been the deciding factor.
“Experience is huge. We’ve been in this position before so that counts for a lot,” he told Mirror Football.
“We know what it takes to get over the finishing line first and we’ve got to use that experience and make sure we do that again.
“Even the young players are putting their two pence worth in and it’s a team effort, everyone’s contribution counts.
“We didn’t think about getting back into this position, we never doubted we could put a run of games together.
“You need to get momentum at this stage of the season, that’s the most important thing, getting a good run of games together and making sure you get a run of games together.
“We’ve picked another one off and hopefully we can keep that going,” he stated.
United travel to take on Wigan at the DW Stadium on Wednesday in their next fixture.
