Nottingham Forest fans have expressed their joy at the news that Mark Warburton could be their new manager by the weekend.
The Nottingham Post reports that the Championship club hope to announce Warburton’s arrival over the next 24 hours.
Gary Brazil is currently in charge of Forest, and was expected to keep that position until the end of the season, but the latest speculation suggests that the board are ready to bring in a permanent successor to Philippe Montanier.
Warburton is out of work following his shock exit from Rangers in February, but the Nottingham Post claims that it may take some time for a deal to be finalised due to the confusing nature of his departure from the Scottish giants.
The club announced that Warburton and his backroom staff had resigned, but both he and his colleagues denied the claims.
If the 54-year-old is hired before Saturday’s East Midlands clash against Derby County, both teams could have new managers in charge.
Steve McClaren was sacked by the Rams on Sunday, and ex-Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett is the favourite to take over.
Following the news about Warburton’s potential switch to the City Ground, fans have tweeted their say on the matter.
